Vetiver Grass

Vetiveria zizanoides

Vetiver essential oil is derived from the complex root system of grass found in Sri Lanka and India.  The grass is then woven and serves as a mat.

Deeply relaxing and comforting, Vetiver essential oil is a common base note in perfumery and aromatherapy applications.  It's rich aroma can be described as both warm and masculine.

In India and Sri Lanka, Vetiver oil is known as the "oil of tranquility."  This is directly applicable to its common applications as a relaxing and comforting oil.

Aroma: Vetiver has an unique earthy, woody scent characteristic which is derived from the resin of its complex root system.

Blends with: Cedarwood, Chamomile, Frankincense, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Lemongrass, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.

Properties: antiseptic, astringent, carminative, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, sedative, tonic, uterine, vulnerary and expectorant.
